I had to do a blog today about Taylor Made Golf. I haven't been a customer of Taylor Made too long in my career but when I was up at some Nationwide events a few years back they offered me a driver. At the time I was using a Callaway driver that honestly, I can't remember the name. As the guy was walking up and down the range, he noticed that I was hitting the driver good but it was either cutting, drawing, going straight, high, and low. He stopped and asked me if I was actually trying to hit those shots or if I was just making my normal swing and that was happening. I told him, I'm not the type of pro where if you watch me on the range, you are like wow this guy doesn't miss. I told him the truth and that was that I had no idea how I shoot good scores, I just do somehow. He asked me what's my typical miss and I said "just like anyone else, all over the place" He just laughed and said "would you mind playing an R7?" Well, sure! I put the R7 in my bag that week and it's never left since then. I have buddies in the industry that have sent me their newest drivers but there isn't something that is even with in 20 yards of this thing and no, that isn't exageration. Nothing came close to that driver. By the way, when I say a few years back, it was more like 4 years ago. I don't know anyone that I play with or even know that have owned the same driver for that long but if it works, it works, right? This whole story basically is because of last week. I was out hitting the range at my local club. I had 9 drivers in my bag all from the top OEM's to try and see if something can get this thing out of my bag. Not that I wanted it gone because it's my baby but hey, with all this new technology, something out there has to be better! Anyway, there were a few drivers that I loved at address and loved the feel but I could see the ball land when I hit them good. With my R7, I don't see them land because there's big weeds that my driver goes in. Well, none beat it. So, sitting there wondering when I'm going to find a replacement the unthinklable happened. I had 6 balls left and took my driver back out of my bag. First one was killed, but I seen it land. No wind, nothing which I thought was odd. Next shot, the same and I seen it land. The rest of the remaining balls all went the same place. I was shocked. Putting my head cover on my head I noticed a crack! On the toe of the club there was a "V" shaped crack so instead of going to practice short game, I went home with my head down. There's just no way they're going to replace this thing after being 4 years old. I get home, make the call to Taylor and they are closed for the holiday. First day I have a chance to get a hold of them I do. I called down to their offices and they told me to send it back and they will call me when received to tell me what's going on. The next day I get a call saying "Brad, I will look around the shop and see if we have a replacement" The next day I thought I would hear from them and didn't. Not wanting to bother them at all, I just waited. Well, 20 minutes ago, I go into my garage and there's a box with a brand new R7 bent to my specs, with my shaft, and a new head cover with a note saying "If you ever need anything else, just give me a call...enjoy" That's what this is all about. Kudos to Taylor Made golf, great customer service. Many thanks to Jim down there, I appreciate it a bunch! Brad Golfjunkys.com |
