Northern Trust Open: Steve Stricker deserves to be number 2 in the world and now with this win, he is. After starting the day with a 6 shot lead it became only 2 after the first 5 holes. I thought he might lose it for a minute there but he kept within himself and pulled out the victory. He ended up shooting 16 under 268. His victory was worth 1.152 million and it was his 4th victory in his last 15 starts. Again, after he won he started crying. Every time he wins he does this and I'm sure it has to do with where he was a few years back to where he is now. Toward the end of the round Luke Donald stepped up and put a little pressure on him by making birdie at 17 to get within two but he didn't get any closer and Steve was able to pull out the win. His putting is just so good. His technique is just too simple for anything to go wrong. It's just straight back and straight through with no real problems anywhere which is why he can hole these putts under pressure. The weird part with his putting is that his heel is off the ground but it works for him so why change... Congrats to Steve! One of the good guys out there... Brad |
